D28 Modular Robotic Welding Fixture Table for Dutch Trailer Fabrication Workshop
Client Background
This Dutch workshop is located in North Brabant, focusing on custom trailer chassis and transport frame production. They run a robotic welding cell with frequent product changeovers. Previously, they relied on fixed dedicated jigs, which took long lead times to produce and occupied a large area of workshop space. Local labour shortages and strict European dimensional standards pushed them to upgrade to flexible modular tooling.
Client Challenges
Fixed jigs could not adapt to frequent model switching. Accumulated positioning errors caused unstable weld quality for robotic programs. Changing batches required rebuilding jigs, reducing robot uptime. Old fixture plates lost flatness quickly under continuous welding heat. Limited workshop space could not store many dedicated jigs.
Our Solution
We supplied the D28 modular robotic welding fixture table with nitrided Q355 Steel tabletop. The reinforced frame ensures flatness of ±0.05 mm per meter. Matching clamps, locating pins and support blocks were delivered together. All accessories are machined from our internal workshop and qualified external partners. The standard hole grid allows operators to rearrange locating points freely without making new fixed jigs. The table is fully compatible with their existing robotic welding system.
Achieved Results
Part switching time dropped by 62 percent. Operators can reset fixture layouts within one hour for new workpieces. Robotic welding repeatability improved, and all finished assemblies meet required tolerance. Storage demand for custom jigs was greatly reduced. The nitrided surface keeps stable reference accuracy after over 12 months of continuous production. Robot working hours increased, lifting monthly output of trailer frames and brackets. The table complies with local Dutch manufacturing audit standards and supports future new product development.
