Flange Lock Nut

1, The friction angle is an important factor affecting the screw-out torque. The existence of friction is the basis for the normal operation of flange lock nut. During repeated use, the rough areas and edges of the contact surface are smoothed under the action of reciprocating friction, and the friction coefficient decreases, thereby reducing  maximum screw-out torque of nut.

2, Due to manufacturing technology limitations and precision, there are sharp corners on the thread edges or inconsistent dimensional matching between parts. During the initial assembly, the screw-in and screw-out torque may fluctuate to a certain extent. It takes a certain number of running-in times to obtain a more accurate locking nut reusability characteristic.

3, Flange lock nut are usually made of metal materials such as carbon steel or stainless steel. Their performance is affected by many factors, including material strain hardening, low-cycle fatigue, friction coefficient, manufacturing and assembly quality, and closing value1. These factors will affect the maximum screw-out torque and other mechanical properties of the nut.
