1. Daily cleaning and maintenance
Keep the lock body clean
Wipe the surface of the lock body with a soft dry cloth regularly to remove dust and dirt.
For the tarnished brass surface, use mild soapy water or a special brass cleaner to clean it. Avoid using acidic or abrasive cleaners.
Clean the keyhole
Use a fine needle or compressed air to clean the dust and debris in the keyhole to prevent blockage and affect the opening.
2. Lubrication and maintenance
Regularly lubricate the lock core
Drop a small amount of lubricating oil (such as WD-40 or graphite powder) into the keyhole every six months to keep the lock core flexible.
Avoid using cooking oil, as it is easy to adhere to dust and accelerate wear.
Lubricate the movable parts of the lock buckle
Apply a small amount of grease to the rotating shaft of the lock buckle to ensure smooth opening and closing.
3. Rust and corrosion prevention
Avoid humid environment
Try to avoid exposing the Brass Copper Padlock to rain or high humidity to prevent surface oxidation and rust.
After using in a humid environment, wipe the moisture on the surface of the lock body in time.
Surface treatment
For padlocks used outdoors, choose models with anti-corrosion coatings, such as nano coatings or chrome plating.
Apply anti-rust oil or wax protective agent regularly to form a protective film.
IV. Precautions for use
Avoid violent operation
Avoid excessive force when unlocking to prevent deformation of the lock core or lock buckle.
Do not use a key to forcefully turn a lock core that is not fully inserted.
Regular inspection
Check whether the lock body screws are loose and tighten them in time.
If the lock is not flexible to open, clean and lubricate it in time.
V. Maintenance when not in use for a long time
For padlocks that have not been used for a long time, a small amount of lubricating oil should be dripped into the keyhole to prevent rusting of internal parts.
Store in a dry and ventilated place, avoid direct sunlight.
VI. Common problem handling
The lock core is astringent: you can try to lubricate it with pencil lead powder, graphite has a good lubricating effect.
Surface oxidation: Use brass polish or a paste made of vinegar + salt + flour to gently wipe it to restore the gloss.
