1. Material properties
Material selection: Toothed elastic pins are usually made of spring steel or stainless steel. Spring steel has good elasticity and shear resistance, while stainless steel performs better in corrosion resistance.
Heat treatment process: Proper heat treatment can improve the hardness, strength and wear resistance of the material, thereby extending the service life of the elastic pin.
2. Use environment
Temperature conditions: High or low temperature environments may affect the mechanical properties of the material. For example, high temperature may cause the material to creep and reduce its elasticity; while low temperature may make the material brittle and prone to fracture.
Corrosive media: In corrosive environments such as moisture, acid, alkali or salt spray, the elastic pin may corrode, resulting in a decrease in material performance and thus affecting its life.
3. Load and working frequency
Load size: When the elastic pin is subjected to a large load, its internal stress will increase, which is prone to fatigue damage and shortens its life.
Alternating load and vibration: Under working conditions with alternating loads or frequent vibrations, the elastic pin may suffer fatigue damage, causing the crack to gradually expand and eventually break.
4. Installation accuracy
Improper installation: If the elastic pin and the hole are too tight or too loose during installation, it will affect its normal operation. Too tight may cause the elastic pin to be damaged during installation, and too loose may cause it to loosen or fall off during operation.
Centering accuracy: When connecting parts, if the centering accuracy is not high, the elastic pin may be subjected to additional bending stress during the torque transmission process, accelerating its wear and fatigue.
5. Lubrication and maintenance
Lubrication condition: Although toothed elastic pins generally do not require additional lubrication, in some special environments, proper lubrication can reduce friction and wear and extend its service life.
Regular inspection and maintenance: Regularly check the wear of the elastic pins and replace damaged elastic pins in time to effectively avoid equipment failures caused by the failure of the elastic pins.
