What precautions should be taken when installing stainless steel band clamps?

1. Inspection before installation
1. Check product integrity
Confirm that the band clamp has no defects such as cracks, deformation, and toothed belt damage.
Check whether the sealing ring (if any) is aged or damaged, and the sealing surface should be free of impurities.
2. Size matching
Choose a band clamp with an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the pipe by 1~2mm to ensure that it can be installed smoothly and provide sufficient clamping force.
2. Precautions during installation
1. Accurate positioning
The band clamp should be installed at the correct position of the pipe connection, usually at a certain distance from the edge of the pipe (such as the automobile water pipe hose clamp is recommended to be about 25mm away from the edge of the hose).
2. Uniform force
Use uniform force when tightening to avoid excessive local pressure causing pipe deformation or band clamp breakage.
Use a torque wrench to control the tightening torque to prevent over-tightening and damage to the pipe or over-loosening and leakage.
3. Avoid interference
Adjust the direction of the band clamp to ensure that the hoop head (screw part) does not interfere with other parts.
3. Environment and maintenance
1. Keep clean and dry
Clean the pipe surface and the sealing surface of the band hoop before installation to avoid welding slag, dust, etc. affecting the sealing effect.
The storage and installation environment should be dry and ventilated, avoid direct sunlight and moisture.
2. Regular inspection and maintenance
Check the tightness of the band hoop regularly, especially in an environment with large vibration.
If looseness is found, tighten it in time, and replace it with a new part if it is damaged.
4. Special application tips
1. Thin-walled stainless steel pipe: Use special grooving tools and RX sleeves to avoid damaging the pipe.
High temperature or corrosive environment: It is recommended to use 316 stainless steel material to enhance corrosion resistance.
