Compared with ordinary steel workbenches, the choice of cast iron is a deliberate one, and its advantages are fundamental:

1.Excellent vibration damping performance (the most important advantage):

Reason: The graphite structure (flake or spherical) inside cast iron can effectively absorb and disperse vibration energy.

Benefit: During welding, assembly, or machining processes, vibrations can seriously affect precision and surface quality. Cast iron workbenches can quickly dampen vibrations, ensuring the stability of measurements and the quality of welding/machining, and avoiding the occurrence of "chatter marks". This is an inherent characteristic that steel platforms cannot match.

2.Extremely high dimensional stability and deformation resistance:

Reason: Cast iron has good mechanical properties with a high rigidity-to-weight ratio. Moreover, through natural "aging treatment" (being placed outdoors for several years) or artificial aging treatment, the internal casting stress can be completely released.

Benefit: It ensures that the workbench can resist bending and torsional deformation to the greatest extent even under heavy loads and uneven clamping forces during long-term use, maintaining extremely high flatness for a long time.

3.Excellent wear resistance:

Reason: The surface of cast iron itself has good wear-resistant properties. The table tops of high-end brands are usually subjected to surface quenching or nitriding treatment to make them harder and more resistant to bumps and wear.

Benefit: The edges of the grid holes and the table top are not easily worn due to repeated fixture installation, ensuring long-term positioning accuracy.

4.Strong load-bearing capacity:

Since cast iron platforms are usually designed to be thicker, their structural rigidity is extremely strong, and they can bear the weight of workpieces of several tons or even dozens of tons with almost no elastic deformation.
